Greetings, TCP Fam! As we embrace the hug that is February, we find ourselves not only in the month of love but also in the month dedicated to heart health awareness – American Heart Month. And as you know, we take hearts VERY seriously around TCP – it’s even in our logo.  Let's embark on a culinary journey that delights our taste buds and nourishes our hearts with wholesome, healthy meals.

Let's kick off our heart-healthy adventure with a burst of flavors and nutrients. Incorporate nutrient-rich ingredients like leafy greens, colorful vegetables, and lean proteins into your meals. Think hearty salads, veggie-packed stir-fries, and grilled chicken or fish.

Now, let's add a kick of creativity with a Korean flair! Kimchi, a fermented powerhouse of probiotics, can elevate your heart-healthy meals. Try a vibrant Kimchi Fried Rice, where the spicy tang of kimchi meets the nuttiness of brown rice. The probiotics in kimchi may contribute to a healthy gut, and a healthy gut is linked to heart health.

As the winter chill lingers, heartwarming soups and stews take center stage. Opt for hearty vegetable soups, lentil stews, or a classic minestrone. The warmth and wholesomeness of these dishes are comforting and heart-healthy.  Swap refined grains for whole grains to boost heart health. Quinoa, brown rice, and whole wheat pasta make excellent bases for nutrient-packed meals. Try a colorful grain bowl with roasted vegetables and a light vinaigrette for a satisfying and heart-healthy lunch or dinner.

Nourishing our hearts doesn't stop with meals – snacks play a crucial role too. Choose heart-healthy snacks like a handful of nuts, fresh fruit slices, or whole-grain crackers with hummus.

For a sweet finale, indulge in heart-healthy desserts. Opt for treats made with dark chocolate, rich in antioxidants, or a fruit salad drizzled with honey.

Remember, nourishing our hearts is not just about the food we eat but also about fostering a mindful and balanced approach to our well-being. So, let's celebrate American Heart Month by savoring wholesome meals that love our hearts back.

Wishing you a month filled with delicious, heart-healthy goodness!  From Our (Healthy) Heart and Our Hands to Your Plate.
